AI is everywhere in pharma. Impact is harder to find.
For our first joint initiative, the Saudi Pharma and Biotech Network (SPBN) and YEBN bring Saudi and European perspectives together around one question: what is AI actually delivering today, and what is still hype?
This is a working session between a mature market and a moving one. From real-world use cases and model validation to the capabilities Saudi Arabia needs next, the panel will look at what works, what does not, and where the two ecosystems can work together.
What we will cover
- Where AI delivers today. Pharmacovigilance, regulatory drafting, trial matching, imaging diagnostics, manufacturing and target identification: which use cases already work as evidence, and which are still mostly promise.
- When is a model good enough to act on? Data provenance, external validation, drift and bias across populations, and what the EU AI Act changes in daily practice.
- Building the Saudi capability stack. Data, regulation, talent, infrastructure and organisational readiness, and who moves first.
- Building bridges. What Saudi Arabia and Europe can give each other, from joint validation studies to researcher exchanges.
One running case ties the session together: a biomarker-stratified oncology therapy, followed from discovery through model validation to what it would take to run the same work in Saudi Arabia.
Format
75 minutes on Zoom, starting at 18:30 CEST (19:30 in Saudi Arabia). A moderated panel with one Saudi and one European speaker, closing with audience questions. Free to attend, with registration open until the day of the event.
Speakers will be announced on Friday 9 October.
