YEBN turns 25 — save the dates

YEBN 25th anniversary banner

In 2027, YEBN turns 25 — and a celebration to match is coming. September 2027, Barcelona.

Our anniversary flagship congress will bring together senior figures from across biotech and the young European professionals coming up behind them. We cannot share the full programme yet, but this is one to clear your schedule for. Twenty-five years of connecting the next generation of European biotech is worth doing properly.

Save the date. More soon.

New educational advantages for members, this autumn

Coming back from the summer break, we are putting together a series of educational partnerships built to give members something concrete: discounted access to courses, specialised programmes and training across the European biotech ecosystem.

We are still building these collaborations, and we would like your help. If you know a study programme, university course or training centre that would suit the YEBN community — or you run one yourself — get in touch and we will look at it together.

Hands-on workshops are coming back

Also launching after the break: a new series of practical skill-development workshops for members. These are about building things you can actually use — in your research, in your career, or in your next application.

First we want to hear from you. A short survey is on its way, asking which skills you want to develop. What comes back shapes the line-up, so it is worth two minutes.

ÖGMBT’s 18th Annual Meeting, Vienna

ÖGMBT, the Austrian Association of Molecular Life Sciences and Biotechnology, hosts its 18th Annual Meeting this September in Vienna, under the theme Life Sciences — Stronger Together.

This edition is larger than usual: it combines a FEMS Regional COLLAB meeting with a FEBS3+ meeting, pulling scientists from across Central Europe into one programme of talks, networking and collaboration. For a student or early-career researcher it is a good way into the wider European community — and a look at what a strong institutional partner does.

YEBN and MaBE: back to the why

One hour, and one question that changed the room: what is all of this actually for?

Last month YEBN and MaBE brought researchers together from across Europe for Bridging the Gap Between Laboratory and Clinic with Prof. Elena Garralda Cabanas. For ninety minutes the pipettes and the p-values went quiet, and what was left were the people the research is for.

Everyone who joined came away with the thing most conferences do not hand you: perspective. Our thanks to Prof. Garralda Cabanas, and to MaBE. More sessions like this are coming.
