Warm greetings from the President and Vice President of the YEBN

Presidents’ greeting

What a great pleasure to arrive to our 3rd Newsletter this year. We have prepared for you with a continuously growing hard-working and with a team which enjoyed itself a lot to prepare this piece of literature for your summer holidays with hot topics (fighting to the heatwave) from the Biotech and Life Sciences World!!

We aim to better your career chances, share experiences from our members and partners, bring to you top-notch news and of course insider information about our very dynamic ecosystem with news from our Institutional Members.

We are very proud to share with you that YEBN is growing quickly. We finally welcome the Association of Young Biotechnologists (AYB) from Poland with a very wide hug as new Institutional Member. Also our task groups for administration, events, communication and network gained new members and task group leaders and as our plans are big, there is still place for you and your colleagues – so learn more about who are the new faces in YEBN and their ideas.

During our past Extraordinary Delegate Assembly, we accepted AYB to become a member and already started planning common activities together to profit from our synergies. The aim of the YEBN is to create a network within we collaborate to advance and realize ideas our members have. We wish to focus on the needs of our members and support them with our growing team of active members engaged with different strategic axes. Our services reach from communication support for internationally open activities to support in searching the needed information and contacts in the life sciences and Biotech scenario to make the activities a success.

Our Communication Officer Amina Frese and our Communication Task Group Leader, Oriol Bárcenas are taking care of our internal and external communication for these issues as well as for social media and the newsletter. We want to thank you them for the nice job they are carrying.

We express our gratitude to our former President, Patrick Marx, who took over the responsibility of  the Administration Task Group helping us to modernize the statutes and regulations.

The Events Task Group, lead by Isa Vázquez, celebrated a first common event with FEBiotec and ASBTEC in Barcelona to transfer the experience of entrepreneurs to young scientists, students and professionals. A full seminar room and discussions until late in the night with snacks showed us that this fruitful collaboration should continue. And the YEBN will have at least one more big event for you at the end of this year – stay tuned!

And of course the aim of the YEBN is building up and taking care of a professional NETWORK, for this reason we set up a Task Group headed by Alexandre Bretel and integrated by Ela Gralinska. We encourage associations, companies, universities, other institutions and individuals to become a part of this emerging network.

YEBN wishes to find out with its members and partners how the Biotech and Life Sciences sector can support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and aims to work out a strategy and actions to reach them.

YEBN is only as good as its members, institutional and individuals. We as a Presidents of the YEBN want to thank NGB and AYB for their decision to work together in our project. We are looking forward to common activities soon.

We also thank for the paperwork done by Guillaume Beaumont, our Secretary and warmly welcome our Mark Petchey, our new Treasurer from the UK, interviewed for you u in this edition.

We would be eager to get in contact with you and discuss your wishes, needs and ideas to adapt our offers for you or to orient you to find the right person to advice you. If you know people, associations, universities, start ups or companies that might be interested to join our growing european network of students, professionals and companies, share this newsletter and invite them to get in touch.

Have a marvellous summer and keep your brain cool!

Get inspired, get involved!
